It was a journey that would ultimately lead me to found the papermaking studio, Pulp + Deckle in Portland, OR in 2012. Over the years I’ve utilized recycled fabrics like my grandfather’s old flannel shirts, and harvested local plant materials like yellow flag iris, to make paper that invokes people and places. The embedded memories in the fiber of the paper speak to me about the memories of my life. As an introvert I’ve found drawing to be a more direct way for me to talk about my inner feelings and thoughts than words or any other creative medium. My drawings are a record of time,
